Best New Android Games This Week: Cobra Kai: Card Fighter, Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee, and more

Game developers love the colon. Four of the six titles in this week’s roundup of best new Android games rock a settler. It’s a miracle that Tomb Raider Reloaded doesn’t have one either. It could have happened one way or the other.

That’s enough punctuation cat. It’s been a very solid week of new releases, with several games we’ve written a lot about since last year. Not all of them came out properly, alas, but there is plenty to keep you occupied, wherever you live.

Cobra Kai the show is an absolute gem that manages to be both a playful parody and utterly heartfelt. This spin-off of the card-based mobile game so far does not appear to live up to its source material. But how could he? We still think Cobra Kai: Card Fighter is absolutely worth a look, thanks to its glorious subject matter and inventive turn-based combat.

The Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins promotional text has all kinds of keywords aimed directly at the excitement cortex of Doctor Who nerds. Weeping angels. Flash. Wester Drumlins. This inventive phone game from Simulacra developer Kaigan Games is a polished mobile release for the Doctor Who franchise, featuring locations and actors from the series.

Android gamers had to wait longer than everyone else for Dungeon of the Endless, Amplitude Studios’ acclaimed tower defense roguelike, but we got the best possible version when it arrived. Apogee packs the original game plus a bunch of DLC and the pug character Ayairi Whairyadd right off the bat.

You know what could be more exciting than driving a car fast? Manage the person who drives a car quickly. That’s the starting premise of GT Manager, a chic looking management game that lets you build a head office, manage pit stops, recruit drivers, decide your tire strategy and, well. sure, to win races against other players.

We think this one looks pretty decent. The Walking Dead: Survivors is a strategic take on The Walking Dead featuring characters from the comics, tower defense, city building, and PvP. The graphics are detailed and polished, and the gameplay is ambitious. You can pre-register for the game directly in the US, but it’s available for early access in the UK (and probably elsewhere – take a look).

The initial trailer for Tomb Raider Reloaded was woefully lacking in detail. You can see it below. Fortunately, the game is now available in Thailand and the Philippines, so impressions and gameplay videos are sure to follow. We now know that this is a top-down shooter with a loosely Hades-like leveling mechanic, but we don’t know when will arrive in the world.
