Dragon Flight Review – An Arcade Shooter With A Deep RPG System

We’ve played a lot of gacha games which means we’ve spent a lot of time in fantastic worlds filled with archers, mages, assassins, etc. swinging swords, dropping arrows, and casting spells that look like fireworks.

And we love it, but we’re always on the lookout for something new. Dragon Flight, by LINE Games, is a welcome twist on the typical gacha gameplay formula, replacing the fantastical RPG clichés for a refreshing hellball blast.

In case you’re not familiar with your arcade terminology, that means you’re spending your time – or part of it – flying vertically across the screen taking out waves of enemies. You shoot automatically and to make your movements even easier, your movement is limited to the horizontal axis, so you only have to worry about taking out bad guys and dodging projectiles.

Your main ship is a dragon. A dragon shooting bullets. You can take a formation of two characters into battle, with one asset at a time, and you can augment them with two hatchlings – small, unmanned dragons that sit on your flanks and produce extra firepower.

During the action sequences, Dragon Flight looks like a traditional, accessible shooter, but these are only part of the game.

As with any gacha RPG, you’ll be spending at least as much time off the battlefield as you are on it, spending the gold and loot you’ve earned to upgrade your heroes and their weapons, equip items, research ridges. , summon heroes, hatch newborn babies, and so on.

Many modes

There are many modes. Arena is PvP, while squad is a kind of guild system where the goal is to join or form a team in order to earn special rewards. Interestingly, you never fight directly against other players, only compete with their performance.

League Battle is the main mode, and it’s broken up into proper League Battles and Stages. These stages are where most of the varieties can be found.

They come with a range of different objectives, like taking down a succession of elite super-tough dragons, hitting a large pudding for easy rewards, and completing the traditional stages of hell with bosses, waves of enemies. and thrilling colorful ordinance patterns.

You can complete each of them for free a certain number of times per day, with the goal of integrating your loot earnings into the main League Battle event.

League Battle is a classic and challenging ball-hell mode in which you battle for rank against other players. Interestingly, the exact League Battle terms are updated every day. Your goal is to defeat the Dark Lord and reach Cataclysm, at which point various Cataclysm effects are triggered, introducing special types of bosses and monsters.

Cataclysm effects are elemental and impact you and your enemies. For example, on any given day, your Aquatic Hatchlings may benefit from an Attribute Enhancement, while Bosses you encounter may gain the temporary ability to hide behind objects.

This system mixes up gameplay, forces you to put together your teams carefully, and ensures that two days are not the same in terms of what to expect in League Battle. It’s pretty neat.

When you’re not dashing through the skies, unleashing incendiary death, and nimbly weaving through enemy fire, you’ll be spending your time managing your characters and inventory.

As with any gacha game, there are countless tweaks and housework to be done to stay in top shape. You will need to hatch newborns, equip your equipment, research badges, form squads, upgrade your heroes, and more.

Articles in abundance

Items to equip include clothing and weapons, all with their own unique attributes, strengths, and weaknesses. You can enchant them with magic stones or crystals, and upgrade them by sacrificing other items, or just sell them for gold.

Then there are rewards to collect by completing Achievements, Quests, and Daily Missions. You know the drill – Dragon Flight is as rich and captivating as it is in terms of Gacha RPG mechanics, and you can spend a lot of time in its systems.

But Dragon Flight’s USP is how it channels this abundant and intricate shenanigan behind the scenes of a satisfying arcade experience, with your firepower becoming more and more devastating as you level up and build your army. It is extremely gratifying to watch a once tough foe dissolve like cotton candy.

You can also claim 100 crystals for free by entering the code DRAG-ONFL-IGHT-GLOB on the coupon page – which you can find by going to the “Other” option on the right side of the screen. This offer is valid until November 31st.

You can find Dragon Flight on google play (and the App Store).
