Google has filed a motion in California asking for the dismissal of Epic’s antitrust petition.
A recap: Last month, the developer of Fortnite Epic taunted Google and Apple by offering in-game currency directly to players at a discounted price, robbing store operators of their respective 30% discounts.
In retaliation, Google and Apple pulled Fortnite from their stores, prompting Epic to file antitrust cases against the two of them.
While Apple and Epic have been embroiled in their own fight, Google has launched its latest salvo in this high-stakes corporate melee by seeking to have Epic’s motion defeated.
Overall, however, it looks like Google is playing a slightly more cautious game than Apple, letting the iOS giant trade early blows with Epic before finalizing its strategy based on the outcome of that brawl.
