SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom hits mobile on January 21, courtesy of publisher HandyGames and developer Purple Lamp Studios. It is now available for pre-registration.
Originally released in 2003, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a 3D platformer game in which you race around the titular underwater colony defeating robots and collecting various items. You play as Patrick, Sandy, and SpongeBob himself as you strive to defeat – who else – Plankton.
Although it wasn’t very popular at the time, the game has garnered enough cult following over the years to deserve a remake, released last year, with bloated graphics, modernized gameplay, and content that was cut from the original.
The remake – subtitled Rehydrated, but not on mobile – has also received pretty mixed reviews, but if you’re a SpongeBob fan, you’re sure to enjoy it. There is also controller support.
The mobile version of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom will release on the 21st for $ 8.99. You can pre-register now.
