Sony plans to bring more of its ‘iconic IP’ to mobile

Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan revealed during an investor relations day that the company plans to bring more of its “iconic IP” to mobile.

“We’re starting our journey to remove PlayStation’s proprietary IP from the console,” Ryan said. Roughly translated from the management language to English, this means that you can expect to play mobile versions of titles like Ratchet & Clank at some point in the future.

The move is based on the success of the PC versions of Horizon Zero Dawn and Predator, as well as the fact that mobile games generated $ 121 billion in 2020, compared to $ 62 billion for the console market.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of an impending (and welcome) invasion of the mobile space by Sony. Last month the cat was pulled out of the bag by – what else? – a job offer for the recruitment of a new business unit dedicated to adapting Sony’s “most popular franchises” to mobile.

No titles have been confirmed yet, which means we can all play a guessing game.

And before I say it, there is already a Sackboy game on mobile. It’s called Run Sackboy! Classes!, and it’s solid. There is also a slightly less interesting Uncharted game called Uncharted: Fortune Hunter.

And after?
