Best New Android Games This Week: Battery Boy, Game of Thrones: The Board Game, Heroic Expedition, and More

Like last week, this week has been quite a disappointment in the world of Android game releases.

But don’t let that put you off. There’s a lot of good stuff here, including a board game taking on Game of Thrones with none of the actors you recognize on the HBO show, and a very inventive Endless Runner that adapts to your battery level.

Missile Conflict BLITZ looks like a fun contemporary take on the Missile Command format, and NBA Ball Stars proves you can literally turn any activity into a match-three puzzle.

Battery Boy has a smart gadget: it changes depending on your phone’s remaining battery charge. In terms of gameplay, it’s an endless runner where you play as a drop of energy trying to escape from inside a smartphone. As you progress you collect coins, and those coins come in different varieties depending on your battery level.

Game of Thrones: The Board Game is an acclaimed version of the Song of Fire and Ice series. He sees you competing for supremacy in pursuit of the Iron Throne. Natch. The most interesting thing about it, however, is that it has nothing to do with the world-conquering HBO series, as it predates this adaptation by several years.

Missile Conflict BLITZ presents itself as a remastered classic arcade game. We’re not sure, but it sounds like fun nonetheless. The goal is simply to absorb as much missile fire as possible by improving your defenses. With each wave that you survive, you will be able to improve your turns in preparation for the next end.

Heroic Expedition is a cartoon idle RPG that allows you to obtain, awaken and evolve a group of heroes and launch them into PvE and PvP battles. Originality isn’t its strong suit, but it does look like a decent take on the genre, with polished 3D visuals. five different factions, a guild system, and more.

Sometimes you just want a simple, rudimentary form-based platformer with an incredibly literal title. Super Ball Jump ticks all of these boxes. This is a game about a ball that jumps, using a slingshot mechanic, from platform to platform collecting small yellow bugs and avoiding dangers. Is this great? The jury is still absent.

Isn’t there anything the match-three genre can’t do? There are match-three fighting games, match-three RPGs, match-three action titles, and now a match-three basketball game in the form of NBA Ball Stars. As you can probably understand, NBA Ball Stars sees you clearing gems to play basketball moves, and it allows you to collect a roster of superstars like Steph Curry and James Harden.
