League of Legends: Wild Rift launches in the Americas with patch 2.2 “Monstrous”

League of Legends: Wild Rift, the long-awaited mobile spin-off of Riot Games’ hugely influential League of Legends, is finally available in America, several months after its rollout in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Better yet, the version that washes the dishes today in the Americas is the best yet. League of Legends: Wild Rift 2.2 has “a horde of champions, changes and choices”.

The new champion is Galio the Colossus, and he’ll be available from April 1. Unless it’s a trick. Galio is a huge stone colossus who watches over the great city of Demacia until it is activated. Then he starts to kick ass.

There is also a new feature in patch 2.2 called Position Preference. Like position selection in the original League of Legends, this gives you more control over your in-game positioning by allowing you to select lane preferences before a match begins. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t arrive in the Americas right away.

Ranked Season 2 is also coming. Starting April 2, you can earn the Glorious Jinx by reaching Gold with ten or more wins.

For all the content of patch 2.2, see the patch notes on the official website.

You can download League of Legends: Wild Rift (finally) right now on the Google Play Store.
